Biography

Shauna completed her AMI Montessori Elementary Training in Milwaukee Wisc. USA in 2002, after twenty years teaching with the Calgary Board of Education. When she returned to Calgary, she taught for ten more years with the CBE in both Lower and Upper Public Montessori Elementary settings. She has since then worked in private environments throughout the city as well as setting up her own independent school in Cochrane Alberta. She went on to complete her Masters in Montessori Education from Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. She also has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and her classroom Supervisory Status from Alberta Child and Family Services in Early Childhood Education.

Working diligently and having gained Alberta Accreditation for her school, Shauna’s vast experience and knowledge of the Montessori and the Alberta Curriculums, she is able to continue to guide children towards interdependence in our global society.  She states that Montessori is always in her heart. Her belief in the messages of Dr. Montessori and her passion and enthusiasm for the methodology is exciting. As a priority, spending time enabling a better understanding of the “sparks” of interest in each of her students is a passion for hers. She truly believes in developing a strong sense of community with everyone she interacts with.

As she moves forward in her professional career, she wants to establish that same sense of understanding for all her adult learners, guiding them to have the same belief in Dr. Montessori’s legacy.
