Biography

Rhonda first enrolled her children into a Montessori school at the age of 2.5 years; however, she was not very familiar with the Montessori philosophy at that time.  Rhonda fell in love with the method of self-directed learning and the commitment to the individual’s growth of the children. Rhonda began to volunteer at the Montessori school her children were enrolled in and continued to do so for the next 10 years, learning a great deal about the Montessori philosophy and methodology. Watching her boys develop a natural love for learning, while becoming confident, independent and capable individuals in their own unique ways inspired Rhonda to pursue a Montessori education. After spending many years working in a Montessori school, Rhonda was thrilled to become part of the Montessori Teachers College team, where she now guides others to pursue a career in the field of Montessori education.

Spending time with her family is what Rhonda enjoys the most in life. Travelling as a family and exploring cultures around the world is a tradition that has been implemented since Rhonda’s children were young. Rhonda and her family often take part in charity work, giving to those less fortunate and in her free time, she also enjoys swimming, walking, partaking in home decor and listening to music. As a Potterhead, you can always find Rhonda watching Harry Potter movies and picking shells on the beach.

Rhonda would love to see Montessori education become accessible to all children around the world. Public Montessori education would ensure each child is recognized as an individual with remarkable potential, while instilling a love for life-long learning. She would like to see all children be given the opportunity to become competent, compassionate, independent leaders.
