Aurora Montessori School is a co-educational Montessori private school located in the heart of Aurora, Ontario on 14 acres of natural conservation lands. AMS delivers robust Montessori programming to students aged Toddler to Grade 8 in a 36,000 sq. ft facility with multiple state of the art playground areas, an outdoor amphitheater and outdoor classroom, a gymnasium with a performance stage, and so much more.

Aurora Montessori School is seeking an experienced and organized Montessori educator for our Elementary division. We are seeking a dynamic, kind-hearted teacher who has a love for children, and whose primary goal is to nurture and inspire each child’s individuality. The ideal candidate will develop their students unique learning needs with care and thoughtfulness, while incorporating a wholistic and balanced approach to teaching that includes strong academics and the development of social and emotional skills. AMS teachers are committed, personable and welcoming, and have the ability to competently reach out to their students and families, creating relationships of mutual trust and respect.
The ideal candidate should be confident in the use of technology and have an aptitude and interest to learn new applications and software. The candidate must be competent with implementing a remote learning program should there be a government mandated school closure.
o Bachelor’s degree
o Montessori Elementary Diploma (6-12 years) from a MACTE accredited or AMI training centre
o 3-5 years experience as a lead teacher in an Elementary Montessori environment
o Must be able to work extended hours to participate in school activities, including parent evenings, Open
Houses, concerts, and other school sanctioned events
o Follow the school’s policies and procedures
o Highly skilled in classroom management, record keeping, child observations, parent communications, report card writing and more
o Assess and record student progress and provide assessment and feedback
o Maintain a tidy, orderly, prepared classroom environment
o Self-starter with high energy, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to multi-task
o Experience working collaboratively as part of a team
o Excellent interpersonal skills
o Strong oral, written and computer skills
o Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C
o Up to date Immunization Health Screening/Record
o Proficiency with Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
o Confident using Zoom or Teams for video conferencing and being on-camera
o Knowledge of EDSBY Learning Management System
o Work collaboratively to plan and deliver a robust and authentic Montessori curriculum
o Design and facilitate learning experiences that support the individualized learning needs of all students
o Develop a safe, caring, and engaging learning environment that is grounded in AMS’ core values of
respect, inclusivity, inquisitiveness, and kindness
o Monitor, provide feedback and assess student learning using a range of tools and strategies
o Communicate effectively and regularly with colleagues, students, and their families
o Attend and participate in school functions and events
